HOPEDALE -- Shirley C. (Cassino) Mallard, 88, of Depot Street, died Monday, May 12, in Northbridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Her husband of 66 years, Robert G. Mallard, died in March. She leaves two sons, Robert E. Mallard of Hopedale and Phillip W. Mallard of Wilmington; a daughter, Ann Lussier of East Meredith, N.Y.; two sisters, Patricia Doyle of Salem and Betty Berry of Vermont; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was born in Salem, daughter of Leslie and Gertrude (Straw) Cassino. She graduated in 1933 from Salem High School.
Mrs. Mallard was a bookkeeper for the former Jesse F. White Inc. in Mendon for more than 25 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Hopedale United Parish, where she taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the church's Ladies Alliance and Mr. and Mrs. Club.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 19, in Hopedale Unitarian Parish, 65 Hopedale St. Interment will be in Hopedale Village Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Office 655B, Brookline, MA 02445; or to Cancer Care Center, MetroWest Medical Center Development Office, 67 Union St., Natick, MA 01760. Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St., Milford, is directing arrangements.
