Kenneth Michael Kennedy, 82, of Gardners Neck Road, Swansea, died Thursday at St. Anne's Hospital. He was the husband of Hazel I. (Straw) Kennedy.
Born in Somerset, son of the late Michael A. Kennedy and the late Elizabeth A. (Lockett) Kennedy, he was educated in local schools.
A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of the Service Battery 540th Field Artillery Battalion and held the rank of master sergeant. He participated in battles in Northern France and was awarded the European, African and Middle Eastern Theater Ribbons, Good Conduct Medal and American Defense Service Ribbon.
He was employed as an inspector at the former Firestone Rubber and Latex Co. in Fall River for 33 years. He later worked at Almeida Electric in Fall River from 1970 to 1984.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Nancy E. Wiley of Yucca Valley, Calif.; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He also was the father of the late Arthur K. Kennedy, and brother of the late Leo and Russell Kennedy, Mildred Dube, Shirley Mendonca and Dorothy Girard.
Arrangements are by the Birchcrest Home of Waring-Sullivan, Ashton, Coughlin, Driscoll, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea.

Kenneth married Hazel I Straw, daughter of Arthur Ruel Straw and Eva M. Whalley, on 16 Jan 1943 in Fall River, Bristol County, Massachusetts. (Hazel I Straw was born in 1922 in Fall River, Bristol County, Massachusetts and died on 25 Feb 2009 in Somerset Ridge in Somerset, Bristol County, Massachusetts.)
