MONTPELIER - Ronald Victor Borland, 63 of Montpelier, has passed away with his loving family present, Friday, Dec. 9, 2005.
He was born in Montpelier, on April 19, 1942, the first son of Victor and Bernice (Straw) Borland. He grew up in the Wrightsville/Montpelier area. Before graduating he played high school football as a fullback and he helped his father at the Pavilion shoveling coal into the furnace at night.
After graduating he married Beverlee Thompson in 1962. Later he got divorced. He is survived by his devoted mother Bernice, one son, James R. Borland, three daughters, Vickie-Lee Borland, Mary-Anne Borland, and Elizabeth J. Fleury. He has eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He also has a sister Blanche Moore and a niece and nephew.
He was pre-deceased by his father Victor and his brother David Scott Borland.
Ronald enjoyed many different hobbies through the years, including darts, horseshoes, football (Giants), cards, traveling, bird watching, racing, and boating. But he loved to go to camp and fish the most. He entertained family and friends there.
He was a family man and took very good care of his elderly mother. He is a life member at the Canadian Club in Barre. Ronald made a life career working for the State Transportation Agency and was the Traffic Shop Supervisor for several years before his passing. Ron Borland made friends easily and was a people person.
Family and friends may call between the hours of 4 and 6 p.m. on Monday to pay their respects or attend the service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Barber and Lanier Funeral Home, 139 Main St., Montpelier.
