Publisher:1901 - J H Beers and Co; chicago [Salem, Mass. : Higginson Book Co., 1997 - [Joseph Thompson was the s/o Henry and Sarah B. (Straw) Thompson, both natives of United States... parents of five children;;two are still living, Joseph and Alfred, the latter a ranchman at SLC, Utah... father [Henry] died in Canada at age 56 in 1845...widow [Sarah Straw] died Mt Morris Il at age 76 [If born 1802 SHE WOULD HAVE DIED IN 1878 - SEE FINDAGRAVE ENTRY
This book says Sarah was d/o Nathan Straw but the only Nathan in Hope is Nathan Burnham Straw born 1807 NH and Sarah was born 1802 NH. the census for 1830 does list a Nathan Straw born before 1830 with a female born before 1830...I will leave her as a d/o Joseph [he did not go to Hope until at least until 1820] I can prove otherwise based on her place of birth [NH] date of birth [1802]. the Nathan Straw mentioned in this book and given as the father of Sarah was a native of NH and died in old age..had five children [Joseph had five known children] I suspect Sarah B. was Sarah Burnham Straw as was her brother Nathan Burnham Straw with their mother Hannah Burnham. Also Sarah Straw Thompson named a daughter Hannah [after her mother or after Henry's sister Hannah]
also since their children were born in Canada they may have married there c1832 or earlier.

There is a Sarah Thompson bur in Plainview Cemetery in Mount Morris, Ogle county, IL who died Dec 1878. Other Thompson burials in same cemetery are:
Henry Thompson who died Jan 1899 [may have been b. 1827 Canada as he was living in Mt. Morris in 1860 in close proximity to Leonard..his possible father or uncle] and Eli Thompson who died June 1863 [he is the probable Eli Thompson b. 1801 CT who lived in Mt. Morris in 1860 in the HH of Leonard Thompson who was born 1798 in CT]...none of these records include dates of birth. Eli and Leoanrd are probable brothers of Sarah's husband Henry. Possibly why she relocated to IL after death of her husband in 1845. The Henry thompson born c1827 in Canada might have been a s/o Henry and Sarah as he appers to be in Sarah's household in 1851 in Canada and listed first...HOH? following death of Henry his father.
