bullet  General Notes:

Talpey Surname Board on www.ancestry.com (6 July 2008) "Talpey was the grandson or great-grandson of another Richard Talpey who sold some property in London and came over to the Isle of Shoals in what is now New Hampshire State in 1720. There were several generations of Talpey sea captains in New Hampshire and Maine in the early nineteenth century. I have all this on a family tree but it will take a while to look it up because it is a very big scroll of paper. Dexter Talpey Spiller, in Maine ....knows all about this. No one has been able to trace the Talpeys before 1720. Hope this helps" (Ann Talpey )

Message Board - 130401 My father was Richard Talpey. My step-mother did a lot of research into the family genealogy and I have a few notes on it. there is a Richard Talpey, b. 1817, who married Julia Ann Colbath in 1842. (PERHAPS HIS FIRST WIFE.) They had one child named Nellie (who married someone named Robinson?) that my stepmother found. In her handwirting is a note that, I think, says "bur in Cuba") On my stepmother's death her records and notes were given to the York, Maine, Historical Society. They perhaps have the information as to the source of my stepmother's note. The Ricahrd you ask about is numbered #57 in my stepmother's family tree.) I do know Richard's ancestry, as one of his ancestors, born in 1703, was a selectman in Gosport, on the Isles of Shoals. I realize that your inquiry on Ancestry dates back nearly 5 years, so perhaps you already know most of this. If you will send me a US postal address I will be glad to share with you the snippets of information that I have. Otherwise, I would advise contacting the York Historical Society.--Tom Talpey, Washington (NH) Historical Society. PO Box 90, 03280
