Died at age 30 yrs, 10 mos. Headstone reads Lt. Alfred Straw Co F 12 Reg ME Vols (Came Cem)
per Oak's Hist of Garland he mustered in 15 Nov 1861, discharged for disability (wounded at Bull Run) and death soon followed.
Alfred R. Straw, age twenty-eight, single, sergeant in Company F, 22nd Maine Volunteers, mustered in November 15, 1861. Was promoted to the first lieutenancy of same company and regiment. Was discharged for disability and death soon followed. Discharged June 16, 1864.
His mother Rebecca applied for his pension 25 Sept 1873
