ESCONDIDO---Herman A. Moomaw, owner and operator of a retail furniture business for 40 years before retiring, died July 2 at home. He was 85.
He was born in La Verne, Calif., and had lived in Escondido for 21 years and in California all his life. He was a member of Emmanuel Faith Church in Escondido; a 50-year member of Rotary International; and a 21-year member of the Escondido Rotary Club. He was one of the founders of the Escondido Camera Club. He will be remembered by his family and friends as having many talents.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline; daughter Margaret and her husband Charles Horton of Escondido and daughter Viola and her husband Bill Straw of Newport Beach, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Alhiser-Wilson Chapel. The retired Rev. Gerald Grotey will officiate.
Private interment will be at Pomona Cemetery in Pomona.
Alhiser-Wildon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
