Ticonderoga Sentinel, Apr-Jun 1916, obit of Myra Etta
Washburn (long and laudatory):
"Seldom has the passing of one person left such a void
in this community as that of Mrs. Etta Spaulding Washburn.
She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Spaulding, being
born to them in Crown Point, 73 years ago. In her early girl-
hood days her parents and family took up their residence
in Waterford, where she married Robert E. McDowall. Two
children were born to them, Grace and Hattie, the latter
passing away in childhood.
Her parents having returned to Crown Point to live, Mrs.
Washburn made her home with them until her marriage to
Edward A. Washburn, a veteran of the Civil War. Since, Mr.
Washburn's death, about ten years ago, his widow has
contributed... in making a home for herself and her widowed
daughter, Mr. (Mrs) Grace Bly, and children.
Mrs. Washburn was taken... ill... March 30th, passed away...
the following morning.
Being the first of a family of six (sic??) to pass..., besides
her daughter, she is deeply mourned by two sisters, Mrs.
Mary Fitch and Mrs. Henry Helms of Port Henry, and three
brothers, Steven H., of Schenectady, Elmer E., of Crown
Point, and Frank B. Spaulding of Mineville. Her loss is deeply
felt by her two grandchildren, Betty and Robert Bly....
Friday, April 2d,... at the late home... Rev. George H. Buck...
conducted the services.... (L)aid to rest beside her husband
in Forestdale cemetery."
