10.NORMAN C. BENNETT (ELIJAH W.2, WILLIAM1) was born May 12, 1834 in Granville N.Y., and died January 08, 1913 in Warrensburg, NY..He married JANE C. GREGORY March 22, 1855, daughter of LEVI GREGORY and IRENA HAYES.She was born September 03, 1833 in Horicon, N.Y. Lived on Harrington Hill, Warrensburg, and died January 06, 1913 in Warrensburg, NY..
Notes for NORMAN C. BENNETT:
Norman C. Bennett was a member of Company C. 2'nd Regt. N.Y.Vet. Cal. Vols. Norman enlisted into the military at age 27, and took part in the Civil War. His discription was: Eyes-grey, Hair-light brown, Complexion-light, Height 6' 1", Occupation-blacksmith. (When he enlisted, he was listed as a "farmer".)
On or about the 15th of Aug. 1864, at Morgansy Bend, Mississippi, near LA. Mr. Bennett was going about his duties shoeing a horse. The horse kicked and threw him violently against or upon a stump, severely injuring him in his side and back. He was then sent to the hospital in New Orleans, LA. where he arrived on 28 Aug. 1864. He stayed there as late as 28 Feb. 1865 when he was listed as absent from furlough. On 28 March 1865 he was at Soldiers Rest in Alexandria VA. He was mustered out on 8 Nov. 1865 at Talladega Alabama. Norman was arrested at Smith's Basin, NY. on 24 Oct. 1864. There was a $30.00 reward given to an Officer Buck for Norman's arrest. Norman was then sent to Fort Columbus, at NY. harbor on 24 Feb. 1865. He was cleared of all charges and later received an honarable discharge. He walked with a cane on and off for the remainder of his life. Norman enlisted twice. The first time was in Feb. 1862, he was supposed to serve for two years but was stricken with health problems caused by diarhea, general debility, chronic rhematism and chronic hematoma (?) resulting from a concussion over the region of the Kidneys. He later served with Co. H. 22 Regt. NY. Vol.

There is a George Bennett buried up in the North Creek cemetery, that is next to the old Baptist church on the main street going into North Creek. But there is a differance of one year from the information that I have. On the stone it has George Bennett 1876 - 1963, Wife Elda Bennett 1911 - 1960.
