STRAW, RUTH BRASCH, Died peacefully in her sleep Sunday, July 8th, in Carrollton, Texas. Beloved by her family and many friends, Ruth was an inspiration to all who knew her. Prolific letter writer and reader, she found joy and peace in everyday life yet was always ready to pack a bag for the next adventure. Born in Ripon, Wisconsin, May 17, 1918, Ruth received her nursing degree from the Deaconess Nursing School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and served as a First Lieutenant in the Army in World War II in Australia. Preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Irving Straw in January, 1994, she remained the touchstone of life to her 3 sons, Dale Evan Straw, Dean Warren Straw and Russell Irving Straw and their 3 wives, as well as her 5 grandchildren Mindy, Andy, Eric, Wesley and Shane. She is survived by her brother, Ray Brasch, in Ripon and a multitude of friends whose lives she touched. There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday, July 28th at the Holy Covenant United Methodist Church in Carrollton, followed by internment on Sunday, July 29th, next to Hubert in Maysfield, Texas. All who knew her felt better for it and she will be remembered with love all our days.
