TURNER Neil O. Turner, 77, of Jacksonville, FL (formerly of Woodsfield, Oh.) died at 1:43 am Tuesday, Oct 10, 2006 at the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. He was born at Woodsfield, OH. May 24 1929 a son of the late Richard & Grace (Bates) Turner. He retired 15 years ago as a Field Communications Engineer for AMTRAK, having worked in the same capacity for the Penn Central RR and earlier for the New York Central RR. He was a member of the Woodsfield Church of Christ and was a US Army veteran during the Korean War. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge while living in Syracuse, NY. He was an avid golfer serving for many years as a volunteer at every major golf tournament in Jacksonville since the Greater Jacksonville Open held at Deerwood Country Club. Most recently, he was volunteering as a starter at the Deer Creek Country Club on SS Blvd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lois (Carmichael) Turner, an infant brother Charles Turner, and brother-in-law Robert Cline of Woodsfield. Surviving are one daughter Kathleen Landry of Iva, SC; one son Richard E & Paula Turner of East Nassau, NY; One step-daughter Kathleen S. Laurenzo of Terra Haute, In; three step-sons: Kenneth L & Kathy Straw of Pennelville, NY; Gerald & Colleen Straw of Jacksonville, FL; John Straw of Newburg, NY; one sister Jean Cline of Woodsfield, Oh; three grandchildren; three great-grand children; four step grand children; two step great-grand children and a special friend, Donna Knowlton of Woodsfield, OH. He will be sorely missed by one and all. Neil was interned in Woodsfield, OH on Sunday Oct. 15 2006 at the Oaklawn Cemetery in a plot next to his mother & father and beside his wife of 25 years Lois.
