GOFFSTOWN -- Janet Helen Straw of Goffstown passed away at the Ridgewood Nursing Home in Bedford on March 6, 2016 following declining health. Born May 29, 1936 in Manchester NH, she was the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Stanton Leahy. She was educated in the Goffstown school system and went on to graduate from the University of New Hampshire in 1958. Her career was spent in Boston at the Boston Children's Services where she was employed for forty three years. She was an active member of the Castle Island Association volunteering on many occasions. Having an outstanding love for cats, she adopted many in her lifetime providing a caring, loving home. Being a friend to many and always concerned for others, she will be greatly missed.Members of her family include her aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. Carroll Sanderson of Concord, her cousin, Beverly Egonis and dear friend Ted Kelsey of Penacook, her cousins Marilyn Yianakopolos of Hopkinton, Carroll Smith of Grasmere, Joanne Souders of Arizona and Pam Sanderson Mohan of Northwood.A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
