Obit, New York Times ...August 15, 1903 Francis M Hoyt, one of the most prominent residents of Manchester, NH and well known through the manufacturing world as a maker of shoes, died suddently last night at Lisbon (NH, where he had stopped while making a tour of the White Mountains in company with Mrs. Hoyt. Mr. Hoyt was a native of South Danville, this state was was sixty one years old. He had engaged in the shoe business when a boy and never deviated from this line of activity. He was the proprietor of a factory in Haverhill, Mass at the time of the great fire in that city and lost all of his property. He removed to Raymond, where he conducted a shop sucessfully until 1893, when he removed to Manchester and established two factories in South Manchester. He purchased a large tract of land in the vicinity of this factories and this was a source of a large revenue to him. He carried life insurance amounting to $150,000, He left a wife and one daugther, the latter Mrs Hovey Slayton Knowlton. His factory continued for another 30 plus years and at one time producing 9600 pair of shoes per day, but 1942 it was out of business and it is now condominums.
