JAMES L. SIMSHAUSER, 63, of Monroeville, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, near Monroeville. Born June 4, 1947, in Winamac, Ind., he was a son of the late Herman and Betty (Straw) Simshauser. He was a Monroeville area resident for the past 35 years. He retired as a cable splicer from Verizon Corporation in 2008 after 36 years of service. He was also a farmer. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Monroeville, A.M.A.A. (American Model Airplane Association) and the V.F.W. Post 10205, Monroeville. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He was an avid golfer at the Brookwood Golf course in Fort Wayne and he enjoyed model airplanes. He married Sandra S. (Brames) Simshauser on Aug. 12, 1972 at St. Rose Church, Monroeville; she survives. Also surviving are four children, Rob E. (Marianne) Simshauser of Memphis, Tenn., Tony J. (Angie) Simshauser and Jeff D. (April) Simshauser, both of Monroeville, and Jenn D. (Randy) Linker of New Haven; one sister, Marie (Dennis) Thompson of Albany, Ind.; and one brother, Steve (Denise) Simshauser of Penn Yan, N.Y.; mother-in-law, Iona Brames of Monroeville; and six grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one infant brother, Lawrence Simshauser. Prayer service is 9:30 a.m. today, Nov. 24, 2010, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral. Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. today, Nov. 24, 2010, at St. Rose Catholic Church, Monroeville, with Fr. Stephen Colchin officiating. Burial in the church cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the American Legion and V.F.W. Color Guard. Preferred memorials to the church for Masses or donations to the Monroeville E.M.S.
