MITCHELL \emdash Waunita "Nita" Kirkpatrick, 80, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 at the Mitchell Care Center.
Her memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. at the Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff with Pastor Rod Wetzig officiating. Inurnment will be at Mitchell City Cemetery.

Nita was born Feb. 17, 1932, at Glendon, Iowa to Lawrence and Minnie (Bacon) Gray. At an early age she moved with her family to Montana where she grew up and graduated from Eastern High School in Billings. She married Calvin Kirkpatrick on Oct. 6, 1948 at Tekamah and they moved to Scottsbluff in 1952 to raise their family. Nita received her degree in Interior Design from LaSalle University in Chicago in 1970. She received her Associate degree in Advanced Bookkeeping from Nebraska Western College in 1972. Nita and Cal owned many businesses including Cal's Conoco; the National Car Rental Franchise at the Scottsbluff County Airport from 1970 until 1988; the Lighthouse Marina and General Store/Lounge and rental cabins at Lake Minatare from 1980 until 1988; the Sky Port Restaurant and Lounge from 1986 until 1988; the working managers for the Circle S Motel in Colorado Springs, Colo. from 1989 until 1991; and Park Security and Gatekeepers for the Crystal Park Christian Community in Colorado Springs from 1991 until their retirement.
Nita was a former member of the Plymouth Congregational Church in Scottsbluff, past Cub Scout leader for many years, and traveled extensively with her husband in their RV for sixteen years after their retirement.
Survivors include her daughter, Peggy (Bill) Corbin of Cheyenne, Wyo.; sons, Ken (Bernadette) Kirkpatrick and Cliff (Sandy) Kirkpatrick all of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dwight (Norma) Kirkpatrick of Scottsbluff; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Jan (Jim) Roat of Montana, Carol Kralik and Delilah Brown, both of Billings, Mont., and Dorothy Meek of Red Oak, Iowa; brothers, Ryan and Randy Gray both of Billings, Mont., Roy (Charlotte) Straw of Minatare; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Calvin; and oldest son, Don and three brothers.
