Geraldine V. "Gerry" Mellen, 72, Cataldo, died May 9, 2005, at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene.
She was born Dec. 16, 1932, in Lincoln, Mo., to Helen (McCraney) and Murray Gardner. Gerry was divorced from Bob Beck in 1955, and that same year, she moved to the Cataldo area from South Dakota.
On Feb. 22, 1957, she married Frank C. Mellen in Coeur d'Alene. Gerry was a homemaker.
She was a member of New Hope Assembly of God Church in Pinehurst and enjoyed flowers and gardening.
Survivors include her husband, Frank, at home; sons Franklin Robert Beck, Superior, Mont., Clifford Eugene Beck, Kellogg, Fred Mellen, Santa, Idaho; daughters Jean Beck, Snohomish, Wash., Sharon Beck, Post Falls, Mary Welch, St. Maries, Laura Dittner, Post Falls; sisters Angie Wallace, St. Maries, Mary Mellen, Joan Hubbard, both of Superior, Mont.; brother Sonny Straw; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gerry was predeceased by her parents and sister Leola Straw.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. May 17 at New Hope Assembly of God Church in Pinehurst. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene, is in charge of cremation.
