Private family services for Bill E. Lay, a retired auditor, were at conducted on Oct. 9, 2014 at Floral Haven Chapel in Tulsa. He was born in Childers on Feb. 28, 1933 to Earnest B. Lay and Maude E. (Whitney) Lay. He died on Oct. 6, 2014 in Tulsa. He graduated from Nowata High School in 1951, continuing his education at OU, and received his degree from University of Tulsa.
On April 19, 1957, he married Lenora Carr at the Baptist Church in Nowata. He worked for Cities Service in Bartlesville, transferring to Tulsa when the company moved. He served in the guided missile group of the U. S. Army and was honorably discharged. He is survived by his wife, Lenora; a son, David Lay and wife Kathy; and a daughter, Cynthia Ketchum and husband Kevin; granddaughters, Cortney Ketchum Pelley, Callie Ketchum Merritt and Stephanie Lay McCrary; and two sisters, Wanda Straw and Wilma Frauenberger of Nowata. He was preceded In death by his parents, a sister and two brothers.
