DAGGETT-Mrs. Merle R. Straw, 78, Daggett, died Friday at Menominee County Lloyd Hospital.
She was born in Milwaukee Feb. 15, 1901. The former Merle Hittman was married to Oliver Straw April 7, 1920, at Milwaukee. He died in December 1978.
She was a member of St. Fredericks Church, Daggett, of the Sanctuary Society, Mid-County VFW Auxillary and the Daggett Extension Homemakers.
Mrs. Straw is survived by two sons, Thomas, New Berlin, Robert of West Allis, a daughter, Mrs. Tim Morita of Los Angeles, Calif: three brothers, John Hittman of Tampa, Fla ; Thomas of Sheboygan; Raymond of Waukesha: nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Sorenson Funeral Home, Daggett, at 4 p.m. Monday. A VFW Auxillary service will be held at 7 p.m., a Snnctuary Society rosary will be recited at 7:30 and liturgical services will be read at 6.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Joseph Felix officiating. Burial will be in the Stephenson Township Cemetery.
Merle married Oliver Edward Straw, son of Burton Howard Straw and Barbara Puerner. (Oliver Edward Straw was born on 8 Aug 1896 in Jefferson, Jefferson County, Wisconsin, died on 11 Nov 1978 in Daggett, Menominee County, Michigan and was buried in Stephenson Township Cemetery in Michigan.)
