General Notes: per B. Baumann: Soon after their marriage they came to Essex Co., NY settling in Ticonderoga in 1803. Accompanying them were three of his brothers (Jonathan, Zebulon and Edward) and these four Bennets took up a tract of six hundred acres of forest covered land and settled near each other. (she has old deeds to prove this) The three brothers afterward sold their claims, removing to the border town of Clymer, Chautauqua Co. The grandparents continued their residence here, rounding out long and useful lives, the grandmother dying in 1851 ae 75 years and her husband in 1859 ae 87. Their last surviving daughter, Amarilla, died in 1895, Weedsville, ae 83 years. (grandparents refer to Sylvanus and Priscilla), Sylvanus married Priscilla Landers on 23 Oct 1796 in Shoreham, Addison, Vermont. (Priscilla Landers was born on 10 Dec 1776 in VT, died on 12 Feb 1851 and was buried in Streetroad Cemetery in Ticonderoga, NY.) |
