New Bedford - Robert F. Medeiros, 72, of New Bedford passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at home. He was the husband of Sidonie M. (Dorschner) Medeiros.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late John and Helen I. (Smith) Medeiros, and was a lifelong resident of New Bedford. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served his country in the Unites States Army earning the National Defense Service Medal and the Army of Occupation (Germany). Prior to his retirement in 1995, he was a Banbury Operator for Acushnet Rubber in New Bedford. Mr. Medeiros was a former manager the Chordettes All Girl Drum and Bugle Corps.
Including his wife, he is survived by a son: Robert F. Medeiros, Jr. of New Bedford; a daughter: Roberta L. "Robbie" Ducharme and her husband David of N. Dartmouth; a brother: William Medeiros of Brownsville, TX; 5 grandchildren: Kevin Ducharme, Heidi Ducharme, Brenda Ducharme, Jonathan Medeiros and Heather Medeiros; a great granddaughter: Brielle Ducharme; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Raymond Smith and Betty L. Medeiros.
Robert married Sidonie Marie Dorschner. (Sidonie Marie Dorschner was born on 25 Jul 1928 in Prague, Czechoslovakia and died on 18 Nov 2018.)
