Winifred (Winnie) Ryan
1934-2021
Passed peacefully away at the Lion's Manor Nursing Home at the age of 86. Originally from St.Anne's and Presque, Placentia Bay.
Predeceased by her husband John, Parents Jane and John Gambin, Parents-in-law Lucy and Martin Ryan, infant sister Frances, brother Patrick, brother-in-law Garf Pitcher, sister-in-law Madeline Gambin.
Leaving to mourn, sister Bertha Pitcher, Brother Kyran Gambin (Lena), sister-in-law Marina Gambin, Special Friends Chris and Diane Tobin, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Winnie was a familiar face in the Placentia area, well-known for her years of service behind the counter at Greene's Department Store and Branton's Ltd. She volunteered many hours of her time with the Red Cross, the Hospital Auxilary and her church, being a lay minister for years. Winnie and her husband were quiet, gentle folks, who loved to socialize, especially at the Star Hall with their many friends.
Winnie's family would like to thank Dr. Ross Penney and Kathleen at the Placentia Medical Clinic, the doctors, nurses and staff at the Lions Manor Nursing Home and the Placentia Hospital for their care, compassion and kindness over the past seventeen months.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Maher's Funeral Home, Placentia. Visitation to take place on Tuesday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial to take place 10:30am on Wednesday, March 31st at Sacred Heart Church Placentia, followed by interment at Dermot McGettigan Memorial Cemetery, Southeast Placentia.
