Harriet A. Straw

  General Notes:

I believe her to be a d/o Gideon Straw based on the following:
1. Harriet was born c1827 ME and Gideon married 1827 to Lucy Staples in ME
2. Harriet married a Staples [Elias C. Staples] who died in Civil War
3. A Mary Moore/More born c1806 is consistently with this family. 1850-1860 with Gideon and 1870-1880 with Harriet. In the 1880 census Mary Moore is listed as MIL to Harriet's husband Amos Durgin. It does not appear Mary Moore and Gideon ever married but Harriet may have viewed her as a step mother after the death of her biological mother who was presumably Lucinda Staples.
4. Harriet Straw is living in Somersworth, NH in 1850. Nathaniel Carpenter the father of Maria Carpenter was born in Somersworth, NH and in 1850 Harriet is living with a Wentworth family. Capenter and Wentworth Fams had intermarriage.
