Sarah married first to Isaac S. Clawson on 24 March 1873 in Brodhead, Green County, WI. He may have been a widower as he had children Elsie born 1863 and Lena born 1865 living in his HH in 1880 census of Monroe, Green Co, WI.There is also a son Willie born c 1878 who may have been his son by Sarah. Isaac died 17 July 1882 and Sarah then married Josiah who was about 22 years older than she.

In 1880 census she is age 39 and married to Isaac Clawson.
