obituary dated 13 April 1987:
SOUTH PORTLAND - Marion L. Prescott, 97. of 425 Broadway died Monday at a local nursing home.
She was born in Limerick, a daughter of Arthur J. and Mary Roberts Straw, and attended schools there. She graduated from Limerick Academy and Gorham Normal School.
Mrs Prescott was a teacher for many years. She also was a post master at Hollis, where she had been town clerk. She was later employed as a clerk at Hollis Hardware store.
She was a member of the Grange, Gorham Alumnae Association and the Women's Society of the Elm Street Methodist Church, where she was a member.
Her husband Harvey S. Prescott, died in 1961.
Surviving are a daughter, Meona M. Smith of South Portland, three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 10 AM Thursday at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road. The Rev. Eveline Smith will officiate. Burial will be in South Gorham Cemetery at a later date.
