Helen Marie Moody, 68, of Scarborough died Sunday at a hospital in Greenville.
She was born here, a daughter of Lawrence and Shirley Straw Merry.
Mrs. Moody worked for more than 25 years for John J. Nissen Baking Co. She retired in 1987.
To many of her family and friends, she was always known as ``Ma Moody''.
She was a member of the Amvets post here. She also volunteered her time with the Greenville schools.
Mrs. Moody was an avid doll collector and loved animals, especially Keeshond dogs.
Her husband, Clarence Moody, died in 1986, and a son, Les Moody, died in 1995.
Surviving are two sons, Lawrence and Steven Moody, both of Scarborough; three daughters, Dorothy Costa of Hollis, Shirley Chretien of Windham and Pamela Welch of South Portland; a brother, Luther Merry of New Gloucester; a sister, Ann Varney of Westbrook; eight grandchildren and seven stepgrandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hay & Peabody Funeral Home, 632 Route 1. Spring burial will be in Scarborough Memorial Cemetery.
