Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at the First Baptist Church, 5th and Wallace, Coeur d'Alene.
Al Straw, 74, of Post Falls, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene. He was born Dec. 21, 1931, in Challenge, Calif. to George W. Straw and Flossie L. DeLapp. Al moved from California to Oregon in 1942 and graduated from high school in Sandy, Ore. in 1951 before moving to Post Falls. He married Betty Youngman on Nov. 24, 1951, in Coeur d'Alene. He joined the Air Force in 1952.
Al lived in Coeur d'Alene from 1960 to 1964, then returned to Post Falls. He owned and operated Al's Barber Shop in Post Falls from 1960 to 1978. He was also a school bus driver from 1961 to 1979, and a bus driver and mechanic for School District #273 frm 1979 to 1991.
Al was a member of First Baptist Church of Coeur d'Alene. Hobbies included old car restoration, fishing, golfing, and four-wheeling. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and Post Falls American Legion.
Al is survived by his wife, Betty at home; sons, Robert (Erma) Straw of Post Falls, and Ronald (Shellie) Straw of Rathdrum; daughters Judy (Larry) House of Hayden; eight grandchildren, Carey, Kelly, Wyatt, Stephanie, Becky, Doug, Caryn, Tina; 13 great-grandchildren; and little dog Chichi. He was preceded in death by his parents and 15 brothers and sisters.
