bullet  General Notes:

Research of Ray and Mary Straw

Researcher Jodene Gilbert:
The first listing for George as head of household is in the 1870 U.S. Federal Census for Saunders Co. Ashland P.O. Nebraska, image #12. This number is found at the bottom of the web page as in 1 through 50 image #12. His brother Orlando is with him. William, Cyntha and Theda are living with other people in the same place. George is 26 and Orlando is 22, William is 17 Cyntha is 12 and Theda is 6.
The 1880 U.S. Federal Census has George listed in Saunders Co. Ashland Nebraska image #4 George is 38, Eva E. is 28, J. Ward is 7, John H. is 5, and W. D. is 2 years old. Eva is listed as being born in Ill. The children all born in Nebraska.
The 1890 Census is missing and the 1900 census does not have a listing for George. J Ward is in Wyoming, John H. is in Morril Co. Bayard Nebraska, William D. and James E. are in Saunders Co. Ashland Nebraska.
James Elmers wife Hallie Josaphine Straw, gave me a hand written geneology in 1970. She states that George Edwin was dead by this time(1900) and that he was killed in Eastern Nebraska. James Elmer was born in 1889 so George was still alive at this time.
