Elmer Charles Getty was born 26 Nov 1902 at Chester, SD to Arthur and Helen Jones Getty. He was married to Helen I. Straw on 26 Dec 1926 and she passed away in 1973. He was married to Marie M. Riddle 16 Jan 1970 at Madison, SD.
He worked on a farm near Franklin, SD and at Wenk's Produce in Madison. His second wife passed away in 1977.
He was preceded in death by his two wives, one brother, two sons - Arthur Enoch and Clarence Paul and one grand daughter, Naomi Barnhart.
Survivors: sons Harold Getty of Walker, IA and Earl Getty of Brandon, SD; daughters Mrs. Melvin (Hattie) Bagley and Mrs Estella Schoenherr, both of Sioux Falls, SD; Mrs Mildred Barnhart of Phoenix, AZ and Mrs Milbert (Alice) Buthmiller 0f Mn; sister Mrs. Thomas (Ellen) Straw of Madison, SD; two half sisters Mrs. Ray (Pearl) White of California and Mrs. Charley (Bessie) Phipps of Papillion, NB.
Interment: Prospect Cemetery, Chester, SD

Elmer married Helen Iola Straw, daughter of Enoch Harry Straw and Hattie Eliza Mattison, on 31 Dec 1926 in Pipestone, Pipestone County, Minnesota. (Helen Iola Straw was born on 19 Nov 1908 in Union, Cass County, Nebraska, died on 16 Jun 1973 in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha County, South Dakota and was buried in Hills of Rest Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux Falls, SD.)
