Clarence LeRoy Borman was born to Henry and Ruth (Straw) Borman on March 13, 1922, on the family farm in Rock Township near Holland, Minnesota where he was raised and attended country school in District 41. As a young boy, his mother died and Clarence was raised by his father and stepmother, Blanche Weatherly Hart. After finishing country school, Clarence attended Pipestone High School, graduating in 1940. On September 22, 1944, Clarence was united in marriage to Myrna Smidt in Edgerton, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they purchased a farm in Fountain Prairie Township near Holland where they currently reside. On Saturday, January 6, 2007, Clarence and his entire family were celebrating a late Christmas at home when he became ill and was transported to the Pipestone County Medical Center where he later died at the age of 84 years, nine months and 23 days.
Clarence was baptized on April 1, 1923 at the Presbyterian Church in Holland. He was confirmed on May 31, 1936 at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland where he was a member and served as an usher, an elder, and on the church council. Clarence also served on other boards, such as school, elevator, fire, Sioux Valley Energy (SMCE), L & O, and Midwest. He enjoyed serving on the various boards, loved farming, and spending time with his family.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Myrna Borman of Holland; three children, David Borman and his wife Susan of Holland, Minnesota, Dale Borman and his wife Shelly of Holland, Minnesota, and Diane Scotting and her husband David of Pipestone, Minnesota; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and one stepsister, Millie Madtson of Jasper, Minnesota.
