SARCOXIE, Mo. ? Mark M. Straw, age 46, departed this earthly life on Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at 8:21 a.m. at Freeman's Hospital in Joplin, Mo.
Mark was born on March 15, 1960, at McCune Brooks Hospital in Carthage, Mo., to Layton L. Straw Jr. and Emma M. Straw of Stotts City, Mo. They survive.
Mark married the love of his life, Cheryle Brumfield on May 5, 1979, at the Assembly of God Church in Reeds, Mo.
In addition to his wife, Mark is survived by a daughter, Tiffani Black and her husband, Curtis Black, of Sarcoxie; and a son, Rustin Straw and his wife, Jamie, of Sarcoxie. In addition to his loving children, Mark has four beautiful grandchildren whom he treasured, Christy and Korbin Black and Zaide and Dixi Straw. Mark is survived by six brothers, Layton Straw III, Miami, Okla., Tim Straw and his wife, Linda, Lester Straw, Eli Straw and Zack Straw, all of Stotts City, and Loyd Straw, Sheldon, Mo.; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Mark is survived by his father-in-law, Dean Brumfield, of Flemington; his brother and sister-in-laws, Mike and Connie Brumfield, of Elkland, Mo.; and his sister-in-law, Donna Straw, of Sarcoxie. Mark is preceded in death by his brother, Luke Straw; his grandparents, Layton Straw Sr. and Mary Straw; and his mother-in-law, Dixie Brumfield.
Mark worked for Ozark Crane Services in Joplin, for the past eight years. He enjoyed the time spent under the employment of his best friend, Todd Eads. Mark was also a co-owner in K C Custom Baling. The employees of Ozark Crane are Mark?s extended family whom he dearly loved.
Mark was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend. There wasn?t a person with whom Mark came into contact who didn?t love Mark for his dedication, devotion and outgoing attitude on life. Mark will be greatly missed by his family and his friends.
A song is no song ?til you sing it. A bell is no bell ?til you ring it. And Love in the heart isn?t put there to stay. Love isn?t love ?til you give it away. Thank you for loving us!
Funeral services for Mr. Mark M. Straw are 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, at the First Baptist Church in Sarcoxie. Rev. Billy Sharples officiating. Burial will follow in the Cave Springs Cemetery, near Sarcoxie. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Rustin Straw, Curtis Black, Todd Eads, Jeff Hay, Gerald Snowden, Tim Straw, Tim Groggins and Brandon Burton. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Housh Funeral Home Chapel in Sarcoxie.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Housh Funeral Home in Sarcoxie.
