This is a probable son of Valentine Straw based on time and location and research of Jean Powell....jeanpowell@attcanada.net (a descendant and ggggg-grand daughter of Valentine Straw Sr.) He was born in Waterboro, York County, Maine which was at that time the Commonwealth of Massachusetts before being relinquished to the state of Maine. According to his death records he was ahouse joiner [house carpenter]

Nehemiah Perkins' Company, 4 Regt. (Gen Peck's). Also served as sergeant in Corning's Detachment. (research of James W. Straw)

Also bur in same plot as Jonathan: Infant CADY born August 1827 the son of E and E CADY - Mary Cady had a half brother Elisha who married Elizabeth Sanborn and could have had a child in this time frame. They lived in Waterbury, VT


Also in an adjacent plot is THOMAS AKELEY b. 1776 and died 4 March 1808 at age 32y and Lydia FLANDERS AKELEY b c 1783 and died 24 June 1823 age 40y per Sue Phaneuf: I know that there was a Thomas Akeley who took part in the Boston Tea Party; he had several brothers who went up to VT, so I imagine one of them is this Thomas [1776]'s father.

Jonathan married Hannah Moody, daughter of Capt Clement Moody and Mary, on 31 Mar 1808 in Stowe, Lamoille County, Vermont. (Hannah Moody was born about 1787 in Waterboro, York County, Maine, died on 26 Jan 1865 in Stowe, Lamoille County, Vermont and was buried in Old Yard Cemetery Stowe, Lamoille County, Vermont, USA.). The cause of her death was quick consumption.
