Deseret News, The (Salt Lake City, UT) May 18, 1992 Charles Elwood Straw, age 84, passed away peacefully May 16, 1992, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born October 11, 1907, in Springville, Utah, to George Washington and Mary Luell Chase Straw. He married Coe Packard on May 6, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; she preceded him in death on November 22, 1983. Charles was a self employed heating and air conditioning man, owning and operating AAA Heating Co. He was a sportsman and was a member of the Springville Riding Club and the Sugar House Spa Fitness Center. He was a member of the Happy Go Luckies Harmonica Band. An active High Priest in the LDS Church, he served in many positions over the years, including a stake mission and as a worker in the Salt Lake Temple. Survived by a daughter, Carol (and John) Lloyd, Boise, Idaho; and two sons Charles P. Straw, and Blaine P. (and Diane) Straw, both Salt Lake City, 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, William J. (and Sina Mae) Straw, Springville; and a brother-in-law, Ted Best, also Springville. Preceded in death by grandson, Guy; a brother, George; and two sisters, Luell Best and Elma Childs. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 19th, 12 noon, at the Crystal Heights 2nd Ward, 1970 East Stratford Ave (2555 So). Friends may call Monday, from 7 to 8 pm, at the Holbrook Funeral Chapel, 3251 So. 2300 East, and at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the services. Interment: Springville City Cemetery.
