Mr S. had gone into the woods to procure fuel. He was gone longer than usual, which caused his wife to repair to the spot, when she found her husband cold and lifeless. In falling a tree he received a blow on his head, which caused death. Thus has a wife been deprived of a tender and beloved husband - children of a kind and indulgent parent - parents of a dutiful son and the Universalist church and community of an examplary and virtuous member. May the Lord comfort and console them by the gracious influences of his spirit.

Went to get wood for fuel and a tree fell on him hitting him in the head. His wife found him dead when he did not return for a long time.

Reuben married Elizabeth McEwen, daughter of Malcolm McEwen and Lydia Plant, on 13 Dec 1818 in Weathersfield, Windsor County, Vermont. (Elizabeth McEwen was born in 1796 in Weathersfield, Windsor County, Vermont and died on 3 Oct 1868 in Stoughton, Dane County, Wisconsin.)
