"I am the claimant in the above cited case. Neither myself nor the soldier were married prior to our marriage to each other, we were never divorced and we lived together until his death. After the death of Henry G. Chick, my third husband, to satisfy a desire of my children by my second husband George T. Lawrence, I had my name changed back to "LAWRENCE" by decree of the Probate Court, Carroll County, NH under date of September 3, 1895. I file herewith a certified copy of the decree. The soldier never served in the army or navy of the United States prior to August 14, 1862.
I have no property either real, personal or mixed and have had no income from any source since May 7, 1902. I depend upon my daughter and her husband for my support. No one is legally bound to support me.[Elizabeth Lawrence signature]"
