LOUGEE PITMAN (John), born at Barnstead, N.H. ca. 1806, and died after 1852. He married at Barnstead, N.H. 9 February 1826 by Rev. Enos George to SARAH STRAW (Aaron), born at Barnstead, N.H. 1797; they were residing at New Bedford, Mass. in 1852.He was the son of John and Shuah (Lougee) Pitman of Barnstead. Lougee had a son named Leonard Pitman who was living with him at the time in 1852. (Ancestry .com message board inquiry of David Lambert on 16 March 2000)

LOUGEE PITMAN (94) (John188), born at Barnstead, N.H. 21 October 1804 [calc.], and died at Grant Township, Mason Co., Michigan 2 December 1882, age 78 yrs. 1 mos. 12 dys., due to old age. He married (1) at Barnstead, N.H. 9 February 1826 by Rev. Enos George to SARAH "SALLY" STRAW (95) (Aaron190), born at Ellsworth, N.H. 27 August 1797, died at Grant Township, 17 May 1871, age 74 [84?] yrs., due to old age. He married (2) in Michigan between 1871-1880 to Isabella -----. She was born in New York state November, 1824, died at Amber Township, Mason Co., Michigan 28 March 1904, age 79 yrs. due to paralysis. ----. Lougee and Sarah were residing at New Bedford, Mass. in 1852. In 1855 Lougee is living in Janesville (1st Ward), Rock Co., Wisconsin. On 15 April 1856 "Laugee Pitman" purchased 40 acres from the Wisconsin General Land Office "the south west quarter of the south east quarter of section eight, in Township Four [Union Township], north, of Range Nine, East, in the District of Lands formerly subject to sale at Milwaukee, now Minasha, Wisconsine, containing Forty acres" and were living at Grant Township, Michigan at the of the 1870 Census, with $1500. in real estate, and $150. personal estate.. L.G. Pitman residing in Grant, Mason, Michigan in the 1880 Census, with a wife Isabella Pitman. Lougee is listed from Manistee, Michigan in the booklet written in 1884 on The Barnstead Reunion. And she is listed in Grant in 1900 as the widow "Belle Pitman". Lougee's gravestone is the oldest stone in the Grant Township Cemetery. Lougee's children: Leonard Pitman, d. at Mainistee, Mason Co., Michigan, 14 October 1874, age 45 yrs., due to lung fever. Leonard purchased 40 acres from the Land office 1 November 1870 for "the north west quarter of the north west quarter of six thirty six, in Township twenty, north of Randge Seven west, in the district of land Subject to Sake at Ionia containing forty acres".
