This Henry Babcock and Permelia Emily Poppleton, parents to Zada, were married in Gaines, Orleans Co., NY. They were for a period of time in Knox Co., OH (I think 1830) where you will find deed record between Henry and his father-in-law Samuel Poppleton. I am working on theory that this Henry is of the family of other Babcocks there at that time, son of Isaac Babcock and Persis Rice Babcock, and a brother of William and Rachel Ferris Babcock.

Emily stated in applying for pension of her son Ira killed in Civil War that Henry her husband had been "bedfast" and unable to perform any manual labor six years and six months previous to his death by reason of palsy which impaired his mind as well as physically disabled him from work. she goes on to say she depended on the support of her two sons Ira and Henry..chiefly upon the labor of Ira "as son Henry is a hard drinker and done but little to help support either myself or my invalid husband...Henry did not stay at home prior to Ira's death..."
