Find a Grave Memorial 217833623 Barbara was born in Hereford, Québec, a daughter to the late Merton V. and Irene (Hann) Straw. She lived in Canada until the age of 16 when she emigrated to New Hampshire. Barbara worked part-time for Scott's Cabins in Pittsburg for a time, but her main focus as an adult was always her husband and her family. She loved being a devoted homemaker and her family was her whole world. She enjoyed cooking and was renowned for her homemade doughnuts. She also was an industrious knitter, always being sure that her family had mittens, hats and wool socks. Barbara loved to go berry picking, especially blueberries, and she enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden. Both she and her husband loved to travel to visit their son, Larry, wherever he was stationed in the military, those travels taking them all over the continental U.S. Barbara and Floyd also loved to go dancing on Saturday nights at different dance halls all over the north country and their native southern Québec. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 62 years, Floyd Howe, of Pittsburg; her four children, Larry (Rosangela) Howe of Seabrook, NH, Laurie (Doug) Page of Fremont, NH, Lisa (David) Brooks of Colebrook, and Wayne Howe (Cheryl Battersby) of Pittsburg; a brother, Bernard (Marjorie) Straw of Pittsburg; a sister, Carlene (Robert) Prehemo of Pittsburg; six grandchildren, Shawn (Jill) Wheeler, Amanda (Ryan) Kelly, Angela Wheeler, Matthew Howe, Conor (Tiffany) Page, and Jessica Page; three great-grandchildren, Carter Wheeler, Margot Kelly, and Cameron Page; three sisters-in-law, Jean Howe, Gracie Vincent, Judy Howe; and a brother-in-law, Lloyd (Evangeline) Howe; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother, Roland Straw, and a sister, Janice Judd. At this time, due to restrictions in place due to COVID-19, service will be private. A graveside interment service at the All Saints' Cemetery in Hereford, Que., will take place at a later date of which notice will be given.
