"Lucy Seymore was born in Mapleburham, Oxfordshire, England in 1824 and emigrated to Stanstead, Quebec with her parents, a sister and her two brothers in the early 1840s. There is some discrepancy regarding Lucy's maiden name. It is listed on various documents as Seymour or Seymore. It is likely that the correct spelling is Seymore. Not long after the family had settled in their new homeland, Lucy Seymore married Jacob Straw on a wintry day on March 3, 1845.
In later years Lucy lived with her family after she was presumably widowed.
Lucy lived on in Springfield for many years.. She lived with her sons George and John Abbott and she died 17 Jan 1914 at 89 years of age. The local paper incorrectly listed her as 84 but gave her the honor of describing her as a pioneer resident of Springfield.. She was buried in the Maple Park Cemetery on Grand Street."

In 1880 census North Springfield, MO she is living in HH of son Horace with his wife and children. She is listed as married but Jacob not living there.
