General Notes: (Research of R&D Peverley)"...they were at New Durham (Alton), NH in 1803 when their son (Simon Clough Straw) was born, but subsequently removed to Barnston, Stanstead County, Lower Canada or Compton, Compton County, Lower Canada and according to family tradition the homestead was located on the line between Barnston and Compton. They were in the states in 1811, when a son was born in Vermont (Ezra). They may have returned to Barnston as they are not found anywhere in the 1820 census. In the Gilmanton, NH 1830 Census: Lawrence Straw: one male 5 and under 10; one male 50 and under 60 (Lawrence) and one female 40 and under 50 (Judith). The child "5 and under 10" must be a son." Events • Alt. Birth: Alt. Birth, 1778, New Hampshire. Lawrence married Judith Clough, daughter of Simon Clough Jr. and Mary Avery, on 1 Apr 1802 in New Durham, Strafford County, New Hampshire. (Judith Clough was born in 1785 in New Hampshire, died on 20 Sep 1843 and was buried in Dudley Cemetery - Barnstead, New Hampshire.) |
