Reynolds c1854), an uncle (Charles H. Barnes; widowed and born c1832 NY; a stock dealer) ; a nephew (Carleton Weld born MA) and two cousins (Charlie Barnes 1866 Iowa and Harry Barnes 1872 Iowa).

Josiah married Alma Jennie Moore, daughter of Asa Moore and Serepta Stimpson Pennock, on 18 Nov 1869 in Pembroke, Merrimack County, New Hampshire. (Alma Jennie Moore was born on 31 Dec 1844 and died on 15 Oct 1870.)
