He was a 1st Lt. in the Revolutionary War, 1st Company of Biddeford Me. in 1778. Ref: ME Historical Magazine 1:35.
On list of men enlisted at Little Falls, Aug. 8, 1778.
He was a Captain Nov.12, 1779 in choice of officers for a Company of Militia in Biddeford.
In 11-30-1795 Joseph Dyer purchased 100 acres in Little Falls from John Dyer of Bidd next to Enoch Parker land, land he bought from David Smith Jr. the year before.
Joseph Dyer, brother of William, bought in 1767 from John Dyer the latter's half of the 328 acres. In that deed Joseph was said to be "living nigh Sawco Block house". One of Joseph's sons was Joseph, Jr. A Joseph, Jr. was in Little Falls in 1790 and owned a barn in 1792. (A History of Hollis, Maine)
