bullet  General Notes:

Per Eileen Carey Rakowski (daugther) -She was born in Arbor Hill section of Albany, NY. Baptized at St. Joseph's Church she attended grammar school there. One of her first employments was making candy at the Martha Washington Candy shop. After the death of her husband she and her daughter Eileen went to live with her parents on Second Avenue. When both parents died in 1941 she went to live with her brother Joseph on Fullerton street. About 1942 she and Eileen found an apartment on Ten Eyck Avenue. Irene returned to work as a telephone operator with the NYCentral RR, a position she had held prior to her marriage. In 1944 her single brother Gerald moved in with her and stayed until his death in 1949.
When Eileen married and relocated to Utica, Irene followed her and lived nearby. Poor health and her age, compounded by a fall caused her to enter a nursing home there. In 1987, while a resident of the nursing home, Irene died just short of her 87th birthday. she is buried in Rensselaer, NY with her husband.

per Jane O'Connor Foster - My personal memory of her was her beautiful white hair and her love of hats. She often took the train to NYC and shopped for her hats. She was a slim, stylishly dressed woman who always had a lovely smile.
