Joseph signed the Association test of 1776, and soon removed to Weare NH. Of the character of Joseph but little is known; his son Johnathan always spoke of him as a mild, kind-hearted, old gentleman.
Joseph married Mary Hoyt, daughter of Benjamin Hoyt and Mary Collins, on 19 Feb 1756. (Mary Hoyt was born on 6 Jan 1738 and died on 4 Apr 1804.)
