According to History of the Wheeler Family in America, Descendants of John Wheeler, of Pennsylvania, Page 730: he was the son of Shepherd & Minerva, b. 1819, Chester, VT. Was a Dr. It doesn't even mention Laura; just skips to Emma A Conklin [m. 1854]. Emma was born in (Rutland, VT?) to Gilbert & Anna 9 Oct 1830. (courtesy of Sue Phaneuf)

J H Wheeler born 1814 - he is a physician, age 36, worth $300, living with the following ladies: [possible sisters..his parents both died before 1850]

Mary 18 b NH
Caroline 16 b NH

In 1860, he's in Watervliet, Berrien Co., MI with Emma A [b. NY, 1830], children Audubon [5]; Mary 'Minnie' [2] and Howard [10/12]. Jubill gives his POB as NH & his occupation as a merchant.
Also in HH is Mary C Wheeler age 24 b. NH [probably his sister who was listed with him in 1850].

By 1870, they are in Dowagiac Village, Cass Co., MI with a few changes:
1. there is no son Howard but there is one named Albert S [10]; probably the same child;
2. Jubill is now a physician
3. He now gives his POB as VT, not NH

In 1880, a widowed Emma is living with her married daughter Minnie & Minnie's husband Lage Hubbard. Minnie gives her father's POB as NH. Albert S is married to Carrie ____ and off in Porter, Cass, MI. He gives his father's POB as MA. Audubon is also married and gives his father's POB as NY.

Jubal married Emma Anna Conklin, daughter of Gilbert Conklin and Anna Hamilton, in 1854. (Emma Anna Conklin was born on 9 Aug 1830 in Tylerville, Lewis County, New York, died in Oct 1891 in Dowagiac, Cass County, Michigan and was buried in Hartford, Van Buren, Michigan.)

Jubal next married Laura Ann Straw, daughter of Seth Straw and Margaret M. Silver, on 12 Oct 1845 in Edwardsburg, Cass County, Michigan. (Laura Ann Straw was born on 23 Mar 1826 in Bradford Twp, Merrimack, New Hampshire and died before 1850.)
