According to Little's History of Weare a Daniel Straw was called to serve for NH and he marched to Hobert (location unknown) and was in Col. Joshua Reynolds (of Londonderry) Regt. He was paid a bounty of 6 pounds. The town of Weare also paid him his monthly wage giving him 20 bushels of corn. The note reads as follows: (dated Weare September 19 day 1781) Daniel would be anywheres between 17 and 21yrs of age.
"For Valey Received In Behalf of the Town We promise to pay to Daniel Straw or His order the Sume of twenty bushels of Good Indian Corn Per Month from the Time of my Inlistment Till the time that I am Discharg(ed) Said Corn is to be Paid by the first day of February Next as Witness our Hands. (names torn off)" There is no other Daniel that this could be other than the son of Samuel in this area..his two brothers Israel and Jacob did not have sons named Daniel.
Date of birth per VR of So. Hampton.
He was age 82 when he died.
Other sources include: IGI files and research of Kathy Beals. He was a resident of Hopkinton, NH on 8 March 1806 when he purchased from Asa Dustin property in Unity that apparently had a saw mill. He first appears on the Unity census 1810 and he is buried in a family plot in West Unity Cem (Beals)
