Amos Frye
Cause of his death was pneumonitis. Another name for Amos was Joshua Frye. General Notes: Amos married Laura Straw in 1818 and then married her sister Nancy (Anne) in 1843...he was a farmer and manufacturer of bricks. He was a Rep resentative to the NH Legislature for several years.. When seventeen years of age he entered the Army as a voluntary substutute for Charles Parker and it being 1814, he was stationed at Portsmouth, in Capt Silas Call's company, Lt Col Jonathan Steele's regt. While at Portsmouth, young Frye suffered severly in consequence of hastening to the ranks without a sufficient supply of clothing, the expected outfit from the government not being at once forthcoming......returned to Hopkinton....and at twenty one had accumulated $300.00 by his own industry and economy. He then moved to Concord where he resided 23 yrs and then retd to Hopkinton where he resided til his death.....married at 21 yrs of age Laura Straw....married for a second time Nancy Straw, sister of his first wife...."
