per Tipton genealogy notes: [564] Ruth Yarger told me her last name was Wilcox, she also said Mary had sent a letter to Naomi Straw, her sister-in-law, and Naomi kept the letter very private, and wouldn't let anyone read it. The letter came from Nebraska. Mary Ann's obit in the Wood River Interests in Nebraska on March 20, 1903, page 5 column 4 reads: "Mrs. Richard Dunlap of near Cairo died Monday night of paralysis, aged 74 years. Funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. JC Irwin in the presence of a goodly gathering who had come to pay a last sad tribute of respect to a loving wife and mother and a kind neighbor. Interment took place in the Wood River Cemetery. The deceased leaves a husband and five children to mourn her loss. Mrs J.M. Weldon is a niece of the deceased." It is curious here however that 6 children should have been listed not 5. Most likely her name was not ever Wilcox, but since Ruth was so "sure" of this name, I have left it for now until further investigation. Perhaps this is the last name of one of her sisters.
