per C.Fraser he came to Ironville in 1810 to manage property for Allen Penfield. Penfield and Taft were partners in the lumbering business and the local iron works by 1826. It is the Penfield homestead that now serves as a museum and repository of Ironville records and memorabilia.

Timothy married Hepzibah Rawlins, daughter of James Rawlins and Hepzibeth Greenwood, on 29 Apr 1818 in Parkerstown, NH or Pittsfield, VT. (Hepzibah Rawlins was born on 14 Sep 1800 in Mendon, Rutland County, Vermont, died on 21 Dec 1884 and was buried in Ironville, Essex County, New York.)
