"...mother of Ira Babcock deceased who was a privagte in Company K...45th Regt of Ohio Vols...who died at General Hospital Chattanooga, TN on the 21st day of Oct 1864 by reason of a gun shot wound rec'd near Lovjoy's Station, GA on the 3rd day of Sept 1864..."
Emily as a widow depended on her son for partial support...papers ...George E. Ricketts [her daughter Zada's son in law married to Sarah] signed the papers as a witness verifying she was who she said she was.
