Funeral services for John Martin Overman, age 87, will be conducted at the Bader Funeral Home with President Dan Anderson of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) officiating.
Burial will follow at the Dellview Cemetery in Manville.
Mr. Overman died Sunday, May 29, at Niobrara Memorial Hospital in Lusk.
He was born October 8, 1906, in Parnell, Missouri, to John Quincy and Montana Rush Overman. He attended schools in Missouri, and in 1925 he married Olevia Milligan. They moved to Lance Creek, Wyo., in 1942. Olevia died in 1949. John worked for Continental Oil Company for 27 years.
On December 23, 1949, he married Wyona "Pete" West. The marriage was later solemnized in Salt Lake LDS temple. They continued to live in Lance Creek until his retirement in 1969.
He then continued to work for Continental Oil Co. for several years as a sub-contractor. He was a council man and equipment operator for the Town of Manville for many years, and he and "Pete" enjoyed their retirement years in Manville caring for their fruitful gardens and beautiful lawns and trees. He also enjoyed many years filled with fishing and hunting trips with his family, friends and neighbors.
He was a member of the LDS church and held many offices in the Priesthood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Don and Bill; one sister, Beulah Allen; daughter, Myrtle Wasserburger; stepson, Bill West and grandson, Brian Ladwig.
